Dr Philip Orr
Chief Executive Officer
As CEO, Philip leads the development of strategy and key commercial relationships and oversees Synaptec’s day-to-day operations. An electrical engineer by background, he is passionate about building great teams to commercialise useful technology and is a co-inventor of Synaptec’s technology platform.
Prior to founding Synaptec, Philip was Scotland’s first Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow, and a researcher at the University of Strathclyde’s Institute for Energy and Environment. His doctoral work focused on photonic sensing for fusion reactors in collaboration with the UK Atomic Energy Authority, and he is the recipient of a number of engineering prizes, including the Sir William Siemens Medal and the EPSRC Doctoral Prize.
