Overview of Role
The Sales Manager (SM) will operate at the critical intersection of supply chain partners and end users to drive rapid sales growth in the North, and in the Central/East of India, adding to our existing sales coverage in the South and West. The successful candidate must possess strong communication abilities and technical sales experience. The SM must be talented in both customer-facing tasks as well as detail-oriented, analytical tasks and problem solving.
The principal objectives of the role are:
- To replicate sales success with power utilities in Maharashtra across India as rapidly as possible.
- To become a trusted consultant to relevant decision makers of target end user customers, but also their supply chain partners and influencers in these regions.
- To deliver sales presentations, workshops, provide customer and partner training, and other ad-hoc tasks to drive sales.
- To work closely with the Regional Sales Director, HQ colleagues, and partners, to deliver comprehensive responses to tenders and sales enquiries, including technically and commercially compelling proposals.
- To deliver sales growth, exceeding regional sales goals and KPIs.
- To win projects, but also to manage customer expectations through delivery and postsales support stages, using customer and partner interactions to develop references, case studies and repeat sales opportunities.
- To represent Synaptec at events and to collaborate with influencers and standards bodies to ensure awareness and inclusion of Synaptec technologies and solutions.
- To provide local time-zone response and support to partners and customers and feedback to colleagues on customers, markets, competitors and products.
The post will report on a day-to-day basis to the Regional Sales Director and will be expected to provide regular updates across multiple teams on activities.
Essential criteria
Qualification: Graduate/Postgraduate in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering from a reputed University. MBA in Marketing is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a relevant field
- Strong technical commercial skills, tendering and project management experience in power utility. Hands-on experience in key account management, technical sales, technical presentations and channel management.
- Good verbal communication skills and attitude, with an ability to convey technical solutions in clear and simple terms to subject matter experts and commercial contacts.
- Confidence with interdisciplinary team-working in a high-technology environment
- Ability to prepare concise, accurate, high-quality documents and presentations including business cases and proposals to clients and colleagues
- Partner management and project management skills
- Self-motivation and an ability to work autonomously, efficiently, and rigorously including the ability to manage own time and workload effectively
- A desire and ability to travel and evangelise Synaptec technology to customers, partners, and influencers.
Differentiating criteria
- Proven negotiation skills, people management skills and problem-solving skills.
- Experience of selling monitoring or other solutions to regulated power utilities, with familiarity with their design and procurement processes
- Strong relationships with customers in the power sector
- Understanding of Protection and Control systems, SCADA, Asset Management, and automation technologies in the power sector.
