China-UK joint workshop: Effective Protection and Control Solutions to Enable Zero-Carbon Power Systems – Virtual workshop

20-21 May 2021

Join our Applications Director, Prof. Campbell Booth, and Dr Steven Blair, our Head of Power Systems Technologies, virtually at this China-UK joint workshop.

Both UK and China have ambitious decarbonisation plans in the near future – the GB electricity system operator plans to operate GB power system with zero carbon by 2025, while China is experiencing severe environmental pollution issues and has set out 50 pilot projects to enable zero-carbon communities. Reliable and economic operation of power systems relies on effective protection and control to eliminate hazardous situations and maintain normal operating condition. Despite of the governments’ ambitious plans, there are significant and pressing protection and control challenges still unresolved, which could jeopardise the security of energy supply and significantly increase energy usage cost. This workshop will bring together outstanding specialist researchers to work collaboratively to tackle the challenges in enabling reliable and economic power systems with net-zero carbon emission.
